Seminar in Paris on 24 September: Europe, China and Trade Dispute Resolution: the Role of Hong Kong

The French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) is organising a seminar on the theme "Europe, China and Trade Dispute Resolution: The Role of Hong Kong", in Paris on 24 September.  The speaker will be Ms Teresa Cheng, distinguished expert in the field of dispute resolution.  Ms Cheng is among others the Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.  More info
Seminar in Genk on 29 September: Hong Kong, your gateway to China and the Pacific Basin

Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council are organising a business seminar in Genk on 29 September 2010 with the support of UNIZO.  The seminar will explore the opportunities offered by Hong Kong as a gateway to China and the Asia Pacific.  See the full programme here.
Hong Kong Film Panorama in Antwerp: 6-26 September 2010

Antwerp is the second stop on the Hong Kong Film Panorama's European tour this season.  Six films will be shown.  Three are 2009 productions, including Ann Hui's latest film, "Night and Fog".   There are also three classic thrillers, including "Crime Story", starring Jackie Chan in an uncharacteristically dramatic role.  More info and photos of the opening reception here.
Venice Film Festival honours Hong Kong cinema

The 67th Venice International Film Festival presented director John Woo with a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award on 3 September.   Ms Wong Yuet-wah, Deputy  Representative of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels told guests it was a proud day for Hong Kong.   See all the Hong Kong stars at the reception here.
Secretary for Transport and Housing in Brussels

The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, visited Brussels on 2 September where she looked at high-speed rail development.  More info.
Hong Kong signs agreement with Veneto

Miss Mary Chow, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the EU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 27 August with Mr Luca Zaia, President of the Region of Veneto, on strengthening mutual ties and co-operation between the two places.  The agreement covers a wide range of areas, including food and wine promotion, economy and trade, science and technology, and tourism and investment promotion.  More info.
Hong Kong Film Panorama 2010-11 starts in Dublin on 3 August 2010

The new season of the Hong Kong Film Panorama will be launched at the Irish Film Institute on 3 August.  This is the first time the annual travelling film festival initiated by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels, will be held in Dublin.   More info about the programme in Dublin here.
Hong Kong and Ireland sign tax pact - 22 June 2010

Hong Kong and Ireland have signed a comprehensive agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.  The agreement will encourage Hong Kong enterprises to leverage on the success of Irish companies in the areas of technology, research and development, while making it easier for Irish enterprises to tap into the Asian market, particularly the vast Mainland market, using Hong Kong as a gateway.  More info
