Hong Kong Film Panorama in Lisbon

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, in partnership with cultural organisation Zero em Comportamento, the organiser of the international film festival IndieLisboa, is delighted to bring the Hong Kong Film Panorama to Portugal for the first time.

Presenting some of the latest Hong Kong productions, selected with the help of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, the Panorama has become a popular annual event on the calendar of film enthusiasts in some of Europe’s capitals and main cities.

After its lauch in Antwerp, Lisbon will be the second stop on the Panorama's 2009-2010 European tour, with Brussels, Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Madrid, Florence and Malta to follow.

Seven films will be shown in Lisbon, including Johnnie To's Sparrow, Law Wing-cheong’s thriller Tactical Unit - Comrades in Arms, Heiward Mak’s coming-of-age drama High Noon, and Herman Yau's non-fiction film True Women for Sale

In addition to these recent films, there will be a tribute to iconic director Tsui Hark, with his films Once Upon a Time in China (parts I, II and III).  It is 25 years since Tsui Hark founded his Film Workshop. In the 1980s and 1990s, Tsui Hark was so active as a director, writer, producer and talent spotter that his name became almost synonymous with Hong Kong films.

The films will be shown at the Cinema Londres, Av. de Roma 7, from 28 October to 1November 2009.  For further information on the programme, see IndiaLisboa's website and the programme attached on the right of this page.
