Press briefing in Brussels on Tuesday 7 February 2017Hong Kong is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this year. A breakfast press briefing will be held at the Press Club Brussels Europe at 9-10am on Tuesday 7 February. Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the EU, Ms Shirley Lam, will give an update on developments in Hong Kong and on the 20th anniversary events organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels. Legends of Lion Dance exhibition in Antwerp - 28 January-16 February 2017HKETO, Brussels is delighted to support a beautiful exhibition of 12 unique lion heads, made and embroidered in Hong Kong by skilled craftsmen, held at Bibliotheek Permeke, De Coninckplein in Antwerp from 28 January to 16 February. Other lion heads, like those from the "Three Kingdoms" story, will be displayed. Visitors will also learn how lions heads are made and there will be live lion dances on 1 and 16 February. Chief Executive delivers 2017 Policy Address - 18 January 2017Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Mr CY Leung, delivered his 2017 Policy Address to the Legislative Council on 18 January, his fifth and final policy address before the election of a new chief executive on 26 March. He outlined a wide range of initiatives covering the economy, technology, housing and education. More.
New Chief Secretary and new Financial Secretary appointed - 16 January 2017Matthew Cheung and Paul Chan have been appointed Hong Kong's new Chief Secretary for Administration and Financial Secretary respectively, after the Central Government approved the resignations of Carrie Lam and John Tsang, Chief Executive CY Leung announced on 16 January. Ms Lam and Mr Tsang stepped down to launch their campaigns as candidates in the election of Hong Kong's new chief executive on 26 March 2017, in which they will face two other contenders, Judge Woo Kwok-hing and legislator Ms Regina Ip.

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development to visit Ireland in first week of December 2016Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will visit Switzerland and Ireland on 3-7 December. He will attend the Environmental Goods Agreement Ministerial Meeting in Geneva. Hong Kong is among the WTO members participating in the negotiation for the agreement, which aims to eliminate tariffs on a wide range of environmental goods. Mr So will then proceed to Dublin where he will meet with Irish government officials, representatives of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the city's Hong Kong community.
