Chief Executive expresses deepest sympathy for victims of terrorist attack in Nice - 15 July 2016Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Nice, France. He expressed his deepest sympathies on the loss of lives and injuries and extended his condolences to the families of the victims. Earlier, Hong Kong's Financial Secretary, Mr John Tsang, had attended the French National Day reception.
Hong Kong artist at Rome Chamber Music FestivalA young clarinet player from Hong Kong, the award-winning Calvin Leung Chin Lun, has been selected as one of the young talents who will study and perform at the 13th Rome Chamber Music Festival on 23-26 June, with the support of HKETO, Brussels. Hong Kong designers at Paris Fashion Week - 1-6 March 2016Eight Hong Kong fashion brands will show their collections at the Paris Autumn-Winter 2016 Fashion Week. A runway show will take place at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts on 1 March, and the collections can be seen in the showroom from 4 to 6 March. More info.
Financial Secretary unveils 2016-17 Budget - 24 February 2016Hong Kong's Financial Secretary John Tsang presented the 2016-17 Budget to the Legislative Council on Wednesday 24 February. He said Hong Kong would have to seize new development opportunities arising from a new economic order that is driven by breakthroughs in information technology and the increasing role of emerging markets in the global economy. Hong Kong comics artist at Angoul├¬me international festival - 28-31 January 2016The "Godfather of Hong Kong Independent Comics", LI Chi-tak, will be honoured with a solo exhibition at the Angoulême International Comics Festival on 28-31 January 2016. It is also the first monographic exhibition of any single Hong Kong comics artist in the history of the festival. Li will be launching his new book, The Beast, drawn by Li and based on the original story by Belgian writer Jean Dufaux. More info.
Chief Executive's annual Policy Address - 13 January 2016The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mr C Y Leung, made his annual Policy Address to the Legislative Council on Wednesday 13 January 2016. Mainland opens to Hong Kong service industry - 27 November 2015 The Mainland of China has fully or partially opened up to the Hong Kong services industry in 153 sectors, accounting for 95.6% of all the 160 World Trade Organization services trade sectors. The agreement, which will be implemented from 1 June 2016, was signed within the framework of the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the free trade agreement between the Mainland and Hong Kong, and follows a pilot implementation in Guangdong since 1 March 2015. Ninth Structured Dialogue expands ties between Hong Kong and the EU - 26 November 2015 At the annual Structured Dialogue meeting, at which the EU and Hong Kong discuss issues of common interest, the EU undertook to explore the idea of launching investment agreement negotiations, and both sides welcomed the participation of Hong Kong researchers in the EU's Horizon 2020 programme.
