Greater Bay Area Outline Development Plan promulgated - 18 February 2019Hong Kong has welcomed the promulgation by the Central Government of the eagerly-anticipated Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Plan clearly supports Hong Kong to play an important role in the development. Hong Kong will focus among others on developing an international innovation and technology hub, expanding the scope of development for sectors in which Hong Kong's strengths lie, strengthening infrastructural connectivity, fostering youth innovation, and entrepreneurship. Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, said the Hong Kong SAR Government had actively participated in drafting the Plan. More information.

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury in Ireland - 13-14 February 2019The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr James Lau, visited Dublin on 13-14 February 2019. He took part in the 4th European Financial Forum and met with senior government officials and key personnel of the Irish Central Bank and Stock Exchange to share views on efforts to create an enabling environment for financial developments. Mr Lau also visited global aircraft leasing companies and met with representatives of the local financial technology (Fintech) industry. More info.

Legends of Lion Dance exhibition in Antwerp - 18 January - 10 February 2019The third "Legends of Lion Dance" exhibition organised by Tofoe Asian Events at the main public library "Permeke" in Antwerp will be even bigger and better in 2019, with more stunning lion heads, Chinese musical instruments, the Chinese horoscope, and a special focus on Cantonese opera, on the occasion of the opening of the new Xiqu centre for Chinese opera performances in Hong Kong. A fun way for the whole family to find out more about Hong Kong Chinese New Year traditions and welcome the Year of the Pig, which we will enter on 5 February. Hong Kong comics at Angoulême International Comics Festival - 25 January 2019Five Hong Kong comics artists took part in the 46nd Angoulême International Comics Festival, from 24 to 27 January 2019 with the support of HKETO, Brussels. They gave live drawing demonstrations and there was an exhibition featuring the classics and new works of drama comics, i.e., full-length comics stories, by more than 30 Hong Kong comics artists. Hong Kong artist at IMPACT festival in Liège: exhibition extended until 5 February 2019 !Due to its huge success with the public, the exhibition of a work by Hong Kong artist Wong Chi-yung, part of the International Meeting in Performing Arts and Creative Technologies (IMPACT) Festival for experimental art, science, technological and industrial collaboration, has been extended until 5 February 2019. Mr Wong's 20m x 5m immersive light installation "To see the world in a grain of sand", which is inspired by mindfulness, is conceived as a meditative journey composed of a combination of light, sound and tactile experiences.
