Legends of Lion Dance exhibition in Antwerp - 18 January - 10 February 2019The third "Legends of Lion Dance" exhibition organised by Tofoe Asian Events at the main public library "Permeke" in Antwerp will be even bigger and better in 2019, with more stunning lion heads, Chinese musical instruments, the Chinese horoscope, and a special focus on Cantonese opera, on the occasion of the opening of the new Xiqu centre for Chinese opera performances in Hong Kong. A fun way for the whole family to find out more about Hong Kong Chinese New Year traditions and welcome the Year of the Pig, which we will enter on 5 February. Structured Dialogue meeting between EU and HKSARG explores ways to deepen relations - 7 December 2018The 12th annual Structured Dialogue meeting between the European Union and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was successfully concluded on 7 December in Brussels. The Structured Dialogue comprehensively reviews all aspects of, and gives further impetus to, even closer EU-Hong Kong cooperation. More information.
Hong Kong artist at IMPACT festival in Liège: exhibition extended until 5 February 2019 !Due to its huge success with the public, the exhibition of a work by Hong Kong artist Wong Chi-yung, part of the International Meeting in Performing Arts and Creative Technologies (IMPACT) Festival for experimental art, science, technological and industrial collaboration, has been extended until 5 February 2019. Mr Wong's 20m x 5m immersive light installation "To see the world in a grain of sand", which is inspired by mindfulness, is conceived as a meditative journey composed of a combination of light, sound and tactile experiences. Hong Kong Customs reminds members of the public that illicit import of cannabis is criminal offence - 13 November 2018A department spokesperson said on 13 November 2018 that the C&ED attaches great importance to combating trafficking in dangerous drugs, and takes rigorous enforcement action in accordance with Hong Kong's laws. Noting that the recreational use of cannabis has recently been legalised in individual overseas jurisdictions, the C&ED reminds members of the public that cannabis is a dangerous controlled drug in Hong Kong. Illicit import of cannabis or any products that contains controlled cannabinoids (such as tetrahydro-cannabinol, or "THC") constitutes a criminal offence... More information.
Chief Executive delivers annual Policy Address - 10 October 2018The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mrs Carrie Lam, delivered her 2018 Policy Address to the Legislative Council on 10 October, announcing a raft of measures to boost land supply, nurture talent and diversify the economy, including forging ahead with the development of innovation and technology. Sitges 2018 – 51st International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia - 4-14 October 2018Hong Kong cinema is represented this year by Tsui Hark's "Detective Dee and the Four Heavenly Kings" and Dante Lam's thriller "Operation Red Sea". Johnnie To's 2004 film "Thrown Down" will be screened in Catalonia for the first time. There will be two other Hong Kong co-productions, and a documentary about Hong Kong cinema. Actress Josie Ho will be among prominent Hong Kong guests at the festival. More information.
