Infrared photos expose a surreal Hong Kong

These scenes, captured by a photographer of the Hong Kong SAR Government's Information Services Department with infrared (IR) cameras, reveal scenes the human eye cannot see because infrared light is beyond our visible spectrum.

IR cameras, which can see the IR range (700 – 1200 nanometers), expose a surreal Hong Kong.

IR photography is not new: it was around during World War I.

Some animals, such as certain insects, snakes, fish and frogs have IR vision.
