Allegation of Hong Kong as non-cooperative tax jurisdiction totally unfounded - 18 June 2015

The Hong Kong SAR Government regrets the unfounded inclusion of Hong Kong on a list of "non-cooperative tax jurisdictions" published by the European Commission (EC) on 17 June.  Hong Kong is a member of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes and has good standing in the forum's peer review process, which evaluates jurisdictions' adherence to international tax transparency standards.  Moreover, Hong Kong's commitment to implementing the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information in Tax Matters (AEOI) was covered in the EC's Annual Report on Hong Kong (April 2015).
