Chief Executive outlines Hong Kong's way forward

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, outlined the way forward for Hong Kong in his 2009-2010 Policy Address to the Legislative Council on 14 October.  While Hong Kong remains relatively stable during the global economic crisis, its competitive environment has changed.  The government's first challenge is to maintain Hong Kong's status as a global financial centre, and the second new challenge stems from the deepening of cross-Strait economic and trade relations.  Mr Tsang announced new initiatives to develop six industries where Hong Kong enjoys clear advantages and the strengthening of co-operation with Shanghai, Guangdong Province and Taiwan.   Summary here    Full text here
